Suggested Moderator Rules

Moderator Rules and Guidelines

1.       Moderator judgment & Guidelines - The guidelines outlined in this guide are not intended to be universal and are not to be followed in a rigid way, Due to the different nature of situations the policies about forum and users might change and in such situations final decision will be of officials/admin and full moderator. ·         Spam and overposting - poster who is not prolific poster

Any thread that is related to any such illegal activities should immediately be edited. If the offending post is inside a thread where the intention was not to talk about illegal activities, that post and all related to it should be deleted or if necessary ban offending member.Any kind of activity considered illegal by the rules of forum should be treated in the same way.

8.       Locking of Users - If the offending posts were made by a newly created account, that account should be locked. And if the offending user is an old member then a warning should be dispatched to the offending user, unless there are serious reasons to lock his/her account, i.e. it is the third time he does that.

9.       Number of threads Allowed per day per member - Each member can post three different threads per day and if a moderator found more than three then dispatch moderator note for that member.

10.   Be polite with the newbie/guests on forum which don't know the rules and procedure of forum and possibly guide and help them. Don't leave bad impression on new members on forum.

11.   Interacting with other moderators - The other moderators are your team-mates. Try to show unity and unanimity in your actions. Always respect the actions of other moderators. If you do not agree with an action taken by another moderator, discuss it with him/her like rational people in the Moderator Category and if a moderator is doing wrong repeatedly or have some personal problem with any member or moderator then report to owners via email.. Internal problems are to be solved internally. Anyone that does not belong to the moderation team is not supposed to know about it so do not make it public. Try to cover, support or back up the actions of other moderators in public if it is necessary.

12.   Delete multiple posts on same topics by the same member and if necessary then warn that user.

13.   Moderating the Forum takes time. Please try to dedicate a few hours in day to forum issues. There is no minimum amount of time you must dedicate but please try to give as much time as you can. Your personal life is always more important than moderating the forums. If you're gone for an extended time let your fellow moderators know by post in Moderator Category.

14.   Absence of moderator for short time – if a moderator is absent for short time then his/her duty will automatically be shifted to whole moderator team

15.   Absence of moderator for extended time - If a moderator will be absent for long time without any reason then moderation will be taken back from him/her.

16.   Post links of noorclinic books and noorclinic articles in your answers/posts for solving problems of others.

17.   Shifting topics in relevant Category - It will be duty of all moderation teem to shift topics in relevant categories.

18.   It is a good practice to edit posts to add your comments in posts of the Violations Thread of the Norclinic Forum. If you think a post should be edited, to remove offensive URLs, reformat the text or anything you consider necessary, add a comment signed with your username at the end.

19.   Obvious Poster Error - If you see an obvious poster error, delete them without warning or notification. The only reason to delete threads is if they are obvious double-posts of same topic.

20.   Prefer editing to the deleting posts and threads of forum.

21.   Spam – warn the users posting URLs and email address in there user profiles. Action to be taken [warning (rarely we choose this option)/ban/ip address ban].

22.   Try to warn major threads once before locking them, if they are drifting off topic or getting personal or something. If you (or any other moderator) threatens something (one more "me too" and this thread is toast), back it up as quickly as possible. Do not make empty threats, nor allow other moderators to look like they have done so, for they may have simply gone to sleep.

23.   Threads Containing lots of Pages in it - If a thread contain lots of pages in it then start a new thread similar to that.

24.   Questions at or near the bottom of Irrelevant Threads - If a question is asked at or near the bottom that doesn't have anything to do with the initial topic, unless it's really simple and you can just answer it cleanly or say that user to start new topic and give him the procedure link to ask the question on forum.

25.   Moderators can give answers and solve Problems of other members (as does doctors) in all categories, by this there will be also influence of your presence on all users and than members will feel not like they can get away with whatever they want, and not start to break rules.

26.   You can start new threads with moderator ID but can't take part in discussions of that your thread unless it is necessary.

27.   Users With Multiple IDs - If you found any member having multiple IDs then block those IDs except the second ID of moderators.

28.   User with ID "Doctor" but not Doctor/medical Student - If you found that any user (not doctor or medical student) have ID with username "doctor" then first warn him/her and ask from him/her three new usernames to change and if he still insist then block his/her ID after two warnings.

29.   Give descriptive titles for new posts of your category and possibly to the other categories if any moderator is absent or may have gone to sleep.

30.   Copy Paste Information From Other Sites - To answer some questions there is sometime need to copy information from other sites, in this situation URLs or reference links are necessary.

31.   Translated & Changed words Information From other Sites - Information from any site in translation or in ones own words is allowed without any reference link (but information must not be direct copy paste from any site).

32.   Unblocking Of users – Unblock the users only if you block them mistakenly or without any solid and serious reason.

33.   Restoration of posts and threads – Restore the posts/threads if you delete them mistakenly or without any solid or serious reason.

34.   Your accountability - Your accountability in your specific category will be edit, delete, block, unblock, restoration, index page topics selection, new unanimous ranking of users, changing titles of threads. After fulfilling your own daily routine duty of your specific category you can also keep eye and can take necessary measures at other categories if any moderator is absent or may have gone to sleep.

35.   Index Page Topic Selection Duty - Responsibility of selection of index page topics will be upon all moderators. Who ever see a new topic/thread it will be on him/his to bring it on the front page.

36.   Duty of all Moderation team in the absence of any moderator - If any moderator is absent for any reason then responsibility of his/her category will be automatically shifted to all other moderators.

37.   Align text in the threads by editing that threads or posts to maintain the shape of forum.

38.   Red colored text threads should be warned and change the color from red to black to maintain the shape of forum.

39.   Remove the gap at the end of Threads/Posts - If gap is left at the end of any thread or post then remove that gap by editing that post to maintain the shape of forum.

40.   Colors Of Moderator Notes - Dispatch moderator notes only in red colored font or combination of red and green colors. for instance:

  • Moderator Note: Publishing email address is strictly forbidden.
  • Moderator Note: Personal Contact Information is not allowed here.

41.   All Moderators and Administrators are expected to follow the overall policies and rules of Noorclinic forum.

Rules (DON'Ts)

43.   Be Tough & Kind Both - You should be both tough and kind you need too. If you are too harsh, than forum becomes a dull and boring place. On the other hand, if you are too nice, than your members will feel like they can get away with whatever they want, and start to break rules.

44.   Do no Harm & Consult With Other Moderators If You Are unsure - The first rule of moderating the forums is to do no harm. If a post is borderline or you're not sure what to do with it, err on the side of inaction. Talking it over in Moderator Category with the other moderators may be a good idea to get more opinions of what should be done.

45.   Internal Confrontation of Moderator Team - Avoid internal confrontations inside the moderation team and preserve the unity of the moderation team.

46.   Don't Inflame A User - All rules applied to forum users are still applied to you, that is, you are not immune. It is sometimes advisable, as a moderator, to keep your opinion to yourself if it will inflame a user or the situation in general.

47.   Not to hit "Edit" by mistake - When quoting a post make sure not to hit "Edit" by mistake. Use your own judgment and always err on the side if you are unsure.

48.   You can't take part in discussions with your moderator ID if you want to take part in discussions then make another ID (but not more than one).

49.   Moderators Problems related to health and sex - If you have your own problem related to health and sex then don't ask by using your moderator ID instead use your second ID for it.

50.   Irrelevant Moderator Notes - Don't post irrelevant moderator notes.

51.   Don't use your moderator options against the law - Don't use your options edit, delete, block, unblock, restoration without any solid and serious reason and if you do this then after two warnings moderation will be taken back from you.

To Be Continued....

Moderator Rules and Guidelines - Remaining

Guidelines

43.   Be Tough & Kind Both - You should be both tough and kind you need too. If you are too harsh, than forum becomes a dull and boring place. On the other hand, if you are too nice, than your members will feel like they can get away with whatever they want, and start to break rules.

44.   You probably can't please everyone, No matter what you do or don't do, Once you have accepted the fact that you can't please everyone, your life as a moderator will become much easier.

45.   Control your own responses - If you moderate a forum, let this article be a challenge to you. A position does not make you a leader. Influence makes you a leader. The key lies not in controlling the surroundings, but in being able to control your own responses to those surroundings...

46.   In Situations of Crisis On Forum - When crisis strikes, the ability of a leader to calm the ensuing uproar rests upon his ability to create a perception of calm. When situations spin out of control, leadership is highlighted by the ability of the leader to convince the people that everything is under control.

47.   Inspire Members By Your Unity and agree to disagree - An honest moderator will recognize that there will be conflict, and agree to disagree, instead, putting the best foot forward for the forum members. This sense of unity will inspire confidence in the membership of the forum. They will see the forum being led and maintained by a unified group of individuals who respect each other, and comprise a group that's devoid of internal bickering. This is usually in the best interests of the forum as a whole.

48.   Good Leaders Nip Gossip in the Bud – as you see any illegal activity on forum, take instant action.

49.   Good Leaders Make Tough Decisions - As Moderators and Administrators, you will find yourself in tough positions. Should you ban someone, or give them a warning shot? Administrators have some of the hardest decisions to make, because whatever they do will affect the entire forum, and indeed, their decisions may alter the future of the forum.so have confidence in your ability to make wise choices -- with the advice of others, perhaps. You must make the decision and stand by it, never looking back.

50.   Discuss and consult internally all the internal matters of moderators, new unanimous ranking of users, complaints about moderators, new actions, changes, suggestions, improvements on forum and If a user does something improper or becomes a disturbance, inform the rest of the moderation team and take the necessary measures in the Moderator Category only. Don't make it Public.

51.   You will be given new Options concerning with your moderation according to your experience, efficiency and ability on forum.

52.   For More Guidelines - If you need further guideline about your post you can also see this link: -- Suggestion For Junior Moderators - I

Admin Note: Moderators who do not abide by the rules may be subject to take moderation back from them.

Rules and guidelines may change at any time, please re-read them regularly.

My Requests to Admin

·         Encourage your Forum Moderators to be independent [not to much though]. This helps them to be more efficient and they get more confident in solving problems.

·         Encourage teamwork in the staff. Whenever a tough problem arises, it is usually easier to solve it with more than one head. So whenever a tough situation arises, your Forum Moderators will consult with each other on what to do.

·         Make new options of locking and unlocking of threads so that moderators can lock the threads of overtly political or religious nature or against our country officials OR posts promoting advocacy of particular personal, medical, legal, religious, political, or non-profit causes.

·         Please Start new category naming "Moderators Category"(which should be locked for public) so that moderators can discuss and consult internally all the internal matters of moderators, new unanimous ranking of users(according to their efficiencies, experiences, abilities etc), complaints about moderators, help ,questions, new actions, changes, suggestions, improvements on forum and If a user does something improper or becomes a disturbance, moderators can inform the rest of the moderation team and take the necessary measures or if any moderator is leaving forum for short or long time he/she can inform in moderator category to whole moderation team before leaving and in that admin and officials can post new announcements concerning to moderators and forum.

·         It is requested after approval and changes (addition and deletion) in these "moderator rules and guidelines", add the link of these "moderator rules" on the top in new moderator category only (not for public/all users of forum).

·          Make another category "announcements Category" for admin and officials announcements if you want.
