Anemia Due To Pregnancy - Folic Acid And Vitamin B12 Deficiency Anemia

Anemia Due To pregnancy:

Normally during pregnancy, the fluid is going to be accumulated because of hyperactive- dynamic state. Although the bone marrow starts smart job to increase the RBCs count in the blood however the increase amount of water leaves behind the effect of RBCs increment. In other words, the blood of a pregnant woman becomes diluted, and hence virtual form of anemia is developed. In pregnancy due to the high demand of folic acid and iron, nutritional support becomes mandatory otherwise, the woman due to the deficiency of iron and or folic acid may get another form of anemia.

In pregnancy, the anemia is re-defined and it is considered if the Hemoglobin decreases less than 10g/dl (Normal Hemoglobin is 12g/dl in a non-pregnant woman). Although the blood is diluted in pregnancy but the oxygen, status remains normal through out the pregnancy.

Anemia Due To pregnancy:

Normally pregnancy main fluid accumulate ya jama hona shuru hojata hai jis ki wajah bazaate khud pregnancy ka hyperactive- dynamic hona hai. Albatta, bone marrow ek acha kaam ye kerta hai kay wo blood main RBCs count ka izaafa kerta rehta hai. Jism main paani itna zyada jama hota hai kay badhne walay RBCs se bhi khon main Hemoglobin normal nahi rehta aur kam hojata hai. Doosre alfaaz main, pregnant woman ka blood dilute hojata hai aur isi leye anemia ki maaroozi shakal namoodaar hoti hai. Pregnancy main folic acid aur iron ki high demand ke nateejay main pregnant woman ki nutritional support laazmi hojati hai, warna pregnant woman iron aur folic acid ki kami kay nateejay main doosri anemia ki forms main mubtala hojati hain.

Pregnancy main anemia ki tareef mukhtalif hoti hai. Pregnancy main anemia us waqt consider kia jata hai jab Hemoglobin 10 g/dl ( normal hemoglobin ek ghair haamla aurat main 12 g/ dl hota hai) se kam hojaey. Agarche pregnancy main blood diluted hojata hai lekin oxygen status poori pregnancy normal rehta hai.

Anemia Due To Pregnancy – Causes

Iron Deficiency Anemia In Pregnancy

More than 95% of women during pregnancy develop Iron deficiency due to nutritional inadequacy. In addition, the demand of iron is increased to full fill the needs of mother and fetus both. Therefore, a woman should be given with iron supplements through out the pregnancy so that she would not get deficiency of iron at any stage.

Iron Deficiency Anemia In Pregnancy

Pregnant woman main 95% ko pregnancy main Iron Deficiency hoti hai jis ki bunyadi wajah Namunasib ghizza ka istemaal hai. Is ke alawa pregnancy ke doran mother aur baby ki iron ki demand bhi badh jati hai. Isi leye woman ko pregnancy kay doraan iron supplements pori pregnancy main denaiy chaheyain takay pregnancy ki kisi bhi stage per iron deficiency na ho.

Folate Deficiency Anemia In Pregnancy

It occurs in 0.5 to 1.5% of pregnant women. It could be harmful for the baby since due to Folate Deficiency neural tube defects could develop in the fetus. Again, Folate supplements would be required in that instant.

Folate Deficiency Anemia In Pregnancy

Folate deficiency 0.5 -1.5 % women main hoti hai. Folate deficiency baby kay leye harmful hai aur issay neural tube defects hosaktay hain. Is condition main bhi Folate supplements deye jatay hain.

Anemia In Pregnancy Due To Hemoglobinopathies:

Different genetic and pre-existing conditions in a woman may further aggravate the anemia. Like if the woman is suffering from Thalassemia trait or sickle cell anemia etc.

Anemia In Pregnancy Due To Hemoglobinopathies:

Bohat si moorsi aur pehlay say mojood conditions woman main pregnancy kay doran anemia ko mazeed badha daitee hain. Jaisay agar ek aurat Thalassemia ya sickle cell anemia ka shikaar ho.

Anemia In Pregnancy: How To Tackle?

Besides finding out the cause of anemia in pregnancy, nutritional status and provision of necessary vitamins and ingredients would be necessary since both the mother and fetus would need high amount of ingredients. Iron, Folate, Calcium and other vitamins should be given during anti natal period. If there is co-existed illness increasing the level of anemia then this condition should be tackled accordingly.

Anemia In Pregnancy: How To Tackle?

Pregnancy main anemia ka cause maloom kernay kay saath saath, nutritional status, vitamins aur doosray ingredients ka khayaal bhi rakhna hota hai kyunkay, mother aur fetus dono ko high amount main ingredients ki zaroorat hoti hai. Iron, Folate, Calcium aur doosray vitamins pregnant woman ko milnay chahyen aur agar koi aur illness bhi hai jiski wajah se anemia bard raha ho to us condition ko accordingly treat kerna chaheye.

Vitamin B12 Deficiency Anemia:

Vitamin B12 is an essential vitamin for the human body and it plays vital role in various areas including the sites of blood production. It is involved in the generation and maintenance of nerves and an important ingredient In Red Blood Cell production in the bone marrow. Vitamin B12 is not produced in the human body and hence a person has to take it from out side resources. Vitamin B12 is found in all animal products and meat, therefore; those who are strict vegetarians like Hindus may develop Vitamin B12 deficiency, however; those who use to eat animal products even in a very little amount may not acquire Vitamin B12 deficiency. The body stores of Vitamin B12 ranges from 2000 to 5000 micrograms and the daily lose of Vitamin B12 does not exceed from 3-5 micrograms / day. Therefore; there is a lot of stores of B12 present in the body and hence a person would get vitamin B12 deficiency only after many months who either does not take or absorb properly vitamin B12 in the body.

Vitamin B12 Deficiency Anemia:

Vitamin B12 insaani jism keleye ek zaroori Vitamin hai aur ye mukhtalif hisson main aham kirdaar ada kerta hai, khaas tor per Blood production ki site per Vitamin B12 ka aham role hai. Vitamin B12 nerves ki paidawaar aur unki karkardagi ko berqarar rakhta hai aur Bone marrow main bannay walay RBCs ka ek aham hissa hai. Vitamin B12 jism main payda nahi hota isleye isko ghizza kay zarye hi hasil kia jasakta hai. Vitamin B12 janwaron kay gosht main paya jata hai aur issi leye jolog sirf aur sirf sabzyan khatay hain jaisay Hindu, un main Vitamin B12 ki deficiency ek aam baat hai. Albatta wo log jo animal products kam miqdaar main bhi istemaal kertay hon un main Vitamin B12 deficiency nahi ho pati. Jism main Vitamin B12 ka store 2000- 5000 micrograms tak hota hai, jabke vitamin B12 ki aik din main zaroorat 3-5 micrograms tak hoti hai. Is munsbat say jism main Vitamin B12 ka acha khasa zakheera mojood hota hai aur Vitamin B12 deficiency ussi surat main mumkin hai jab Vitamin B12 kafi maheeno tak yato ghizza main na lya jaeye ya phir sahi tour per jism main jazzb na hopaeye.

Anemia Due To Vitamin B12 Deficiency – Causes

There are various causes of Vitamin B12 Deficiency. Some of them are given below:

1.      Dietary Deficiency, Which is rare and happens only in strict vegetarians.

2.      Decrease Production of Intrinsic factor, which is responsible for the absorption of Vitamin B12 from stomach.

3.      Operation of Stomach (Gastrectomy)

4.      Infection of Stomach with germ named as Helicobacter pylori.

5.      Parasites (Fish tape worm) – Rare

6.      Pancreatic Problems

7.      Other problems

Anemia Due To Vitamin B12 Deficiency – Causes

Vitamin B12 deficiency kay baishumaar wajohaat hain jin main say kuch bayaan ki jarahi hain:

1.       Namunasib Ghizza, ye aik rare cause hai aur un logon main paya jata hai jo Strict vegetarians hon.

2.       Intrinsic factor ki kam paidawaar. Intrinsic factor Vitamin B12 ki absorption karwata hai aur Maiday se kharij hota hai.

3.       Maiday ki Jarrahi (Gastrectomy)

4.       Stomach ka infection kernay wala jaraseem Helicobacter pylori.

5.       Deegar jaraseem jaisay – Tape worm

6.       Lablabay kay masail

7.       Deegar Wajohaat.

Pernicious Anemia – Cause Of Vitamin B12 Deficiency

As discussed earlier, there is an intrinsic factor present in the stomach for the absorption of Vitamin B12. Its deficiency may lead to Vitamin B12 deficiency. Pernicious Anemia is a condition in which vitamin B12 deficiency happens due to the deficiency of Intrinsic factor.

Pernicious Anemia – Cause Of Vitamin B12 Deficiency

Jaisay kay pehlay bayaan kia jachuka hai kay mayday main intrinsic factor paya jata hai jokay Vitamin B12 ki absoption karwata hai aur issi intrinsic factor ki adam mojoodgi ya kami say Vitamin B12 deficiency mumkin hoti hai. Agar Vitamin B12 ki kami Intrinsic factor ki kami say ho tau ye Pernicious anemia kehlata hai.

Vitamin B12 Deficiency Anemia – How To Diagnose?

The basic blood test CBC would reveal the initial information of Vitamin B12 deficiency. MCV in CBC would be high, however it would be normal if concomitant iron deficiency or Thalassemia is present.  The diagnostic test is Serum Vitamin B12 level.

Vitamin B12 Deficiency Anemia – How To Diagnose?

Khoon ka bunyadi test CBC Vitamin B12 deficiency kay baray main ibtadai maloomat faraham kersakta hai. CBC main MCV ya to badha hua milay ga ya phir normal milsakta  hai agar Vitamin B12 ki kami kay saath saath, Iron deficiency aur Thalassemia bhi paya jaaye. Serum B12 levels Vitamin B12 ka tashkheesi test hai.

Vitamin B12 Deficiency Anemia - Treatment

Vitamin B12 deficiency is treated with Vitamin B12 tablets or injections.  Patient responds with vitamin B12 treatment immediately in the form of their sense of well being. The nerve problems could be reversed if they are of short duration, however; no further improvement would be seen in case of permanent nerve damage.

Vitamin B12 Deficiency Anemia – Treatment

Vitamin B12 deficiency main Vitamin B12 ki tablets aur injections deye jatay hain.

Folic Acid Deficiency Anemia

Folic acid is also a major and important ingredient needed for the development of red blood cells. It is also like Vitamin B12 does not produced inside the body and hence a person has to take it from outside body resources. The major reservoirs of Folic acid are fresh vegetables and fruits. Therefore who doesn't take vegetables and fruits in their diet may develop folic acid deficiency and hence anemia. The Folic acid stores of the body are upto 5000 micrograms and the daily requirement of Folic acid is upto 50-100 micrograms per day. In the presence of enough stores of Folic acid in the body it is therefore; less likely that a person would develop Folic acid deficiency on account of dietary insufficiency. During pregnancy, folic acid demand increases therefore; a pregnant woman should be given Folic acid supplements to cope with the high demand of Folate in her blood. Drinkers and Alcoholics develop poor absorptive capability of Folic acid and therefore; develops Folic acid deficiency anemia. Folic acid deficiency may also be developed in Hemolysis or Breaking up of Red Blood Cells due to the high demand of bone marrow to regenerate further Red Blood Cells.

Folic Acid Deficiency Anemia – How To Tackle

Folic acid deficiency does not affect nerves therefore; a person does not develop nerve problems that happens during Vitamin B12 Deficiency. Complete blood count and serum Folate levels would give the clue for the diagnosis. If Folate deficiency is diagnosed then Folic acid supplements should be given. In Majority of cases, the problem resolves by taking Folic acid supplements. Pregnant women should be given Folic acids no matter whether they are suffering from Folic acid deficiency or not.
