baby ki padiaish father ke sperm aur mother ke ova ke aapas mai milap se hota hai. yeh milap aurat ke andar hota hai. kisi wajah se yeh milap aurat ke andar mumkin na ho tu bachch ki paidaish nahi hoti, lehaza doctor yeh milap aurat ke jism se bahir test tube mai kerte hai, milap ke nateeja mai jo banta hai ose zygot kehte hai, milap ke baad yeh zygot dobara mother ke andar dal dia jaata hai. aur yeh baby bhi mother ke pait mai hi hota hai.

aisi pregnancy jis mai ova aur sperm ka milap mother ki jism se bahar ho, test tube pregnancy kehlata hai. aur iss ke nateeja mai paida hone wali baby ko test tube baby kehte hai.

ART (Assisted Reproductive Techniques) bring a new hope to infertile couples and many couples all over the world have got babies through these methods. The different types of ART include:

  1. IUI: Intra-Uterine Insemination
  2. IVF & ET: In-vitro Fertilization & Embryo Transfer
  3. GIFT: Gamete Intra-Fallopian Transfer
  4. ICSI & ET : Intra-cytoplasmic Sperm Injection & Embryo Transfer

IUI: Intra-Uterine Insemination: In this process, small quantity of semen is inserted (at ovulation) in the uterus directly through an esp. catheter, and this method is used in couples having difficulty in coitus, impotency, cervix problems or unexplained infertility.

IVF & ET: In-vitro Fertilization & Embryo Transfer: In this method, ova are picked up from the ovaries with the help of vaginal ultrasound guided needle aspiration, they are cultered and kept in esp incubator, then sperm is added to the medium containing ova. when the embryo is formed, it is transfered to uterus through an esp. catheter. It is an expensive method.

GIFT: Gamete Intra-Fallopian Transfer: In this process, the ova and sperm are placed into fallopian tubes immediately after OPU (ovum pick up).

ICSI & ET : Intra-cytoplasmic Sperm Injection & Embryo Transfer: this is latest method in which only one sperm is injected into the ovum under microscope, rest is same as for IVF & ET.
