re: heavy breasts Ur mother is right. it is normal to have mild pain before menses but if the pain is severe then consult lady surgeon for complete examination of breasts. |

 1. A good fitting bra may help to reduce the degree of pain by not allowing too much movement of the breasts. You may even go to sleep wearing it.
2. For pain: you may use Paracetamol (250-500mg 3-4 times daily). Perhaps start with a low dose
3. Limit sodium (table salt) intake.
4. Maintain good body weight, and eat healthy (fruits, vegetables)
If you have lumps on breast, it is advisable to see a doctor.
Hope this helps. |

re: zain606 1. medicine prescribe karne ke lia patient ki history bhi kafi hoti hai. agar diagnosis mai mushkil horaha ho tu na sirf examination karna chahia balkeh zaroori investigation bhi karna chahia.
2. lekin aik doctor kisi patient ko beghair examination bhi medicine prescribe kar sakta hai.
3. mai online medicine prescribe ke haq mai nahi hoo. kio keh doosre member bhi medicine istemal karna shuru kar dete hai. jab keh yeh zaroori nahi keh agar kisi takleef ke lia kisi ko koi medicine prescribe ki jai tu woh medicine har aik osi takleef mai use kar sakta hai. har patient ke lia alag prescription hota hai.
4. is lia behtar hai keh online medicine prescribe na kia jai.
5. jaha tak tsalam ka taluk hai tu woh aik doctor hai aur woh kisi patient ko examine kia beghair bhi medicine prescribe karne ki salahiat rakhte hai.

Clarification It is correct that prescriptions are not to be given without seeing a patient. I have, in my suggestion, asked to see a doctor if she has a lump on breast. Over the counter medications such as acetaminophen is not considered a specific therapy as you may all know. However, for a cyclical pain this may help. As none had any problem with the other suggestions I made, I think you are in agreement with me. I have not prescribed any hormonal preparations, as you may see, which if I did, could have been considered a specific therapy. Also, I said "You may use" and not "Take", which implies a suggestion, and not a prescription.
Being a physician myself, I do not see any point in some individuals making derogetary remarks, since it is unbecoming of a decent person. Anyway, I do agree that everyone's opinion should be respected. One question remains, if the patient comes and sees you (guessing you all are physicians), will you not give her any medications for her pain, while you are trying to find the exact reason for her problem. On a level of risk/benefit, I still think that she could try acetaminophen if the pain is severe.
I will be eager to read the comments of Zain606, Prozak and My Reply on my argument. I agree with some of the comments of My Reply, but I guess he would also give some medication to ease the pain while the patient is suffering and he being the doctor is trying to find the cause. I wonder what any physician would ask the patient do. Your comments are welcome.
As salamu alaikum.

re: tsalam Ur suggestions and replies to various topics are highly appreciated as u are sending valueable information both from medical and islamic point of views. But, here i would not agree to u.
I agree that Paracetamol is considered as "O-T-C" and it not even need patient's examination to prescribe it but i think that this pain does not need any kind of analgesic (NSAIDS, etc)as it gets relieved after menses and it is mild, not hindering in anybody's daily routine and not causing much discomfort. All it needs is:
- daily bath with warm water.
- hot fomentation
- proper diet and rest
It is a transient pain and not cause much problems in life but use of NSAIDS excessively may create problems (as this pain occurs in each cycle, would u advise her to take analgesics in each cycle?)
I have told her to consult lady surgeon for complete examination of breasts as I also kept the possibility of Lumps(the ones which cause mischieve before mense- i dont want to write the name) in my mind.
I hope u understand my point.

Point well taken Dear Dr. Khan,
Your point is well taken. I just suggested Paracetamol and not any NSAIDs, as the latter brings its own problem with gastrointestinal problem. The sister mentioned that she is having "severe pain" (which is more than likely to cause much discomfort as you pointed out) and that to my opinion needs to be addressed.
One thing we both agree that she needs to see a lady doctor (gynecologist) for her problem.
I hope you will reconsider her history.
Best Regards

re: tsalam Thanx for ur reply. I agree to u that "severe pain" should need to be addressed but the threshold of pain is different in every individual and every person explains his/her feelings of symptoms differently. and have u noticed that even her mother told her that it is Normal.
I value ur suggestions and advises on each and every topic.
