re: Typhoid Fever: What Precautions should Be Required?

Typhoid fever is caused by a germ called as Salmonella typhae. It spreads via water and chicken mostly. The test shows rising of IgM and IgG antibodies. The treatment is of antibiotics. The problem with typhoid is that the patient feels so much weakness and his fever remains up to a week. Once you will pass a week without temperature, vomiting and start to pass faeces (since it may also causes constipation) and there would be no abdominal pain that means you have got full recovery. The precautions would be to take light diet and avoid heavy meals. The patient even after full recovery secretes the eggs of the above mentioned germ through faeces till a year. Therefore it is recommended to wash the hands properly so that the chances of re-contamination would be minimized. You can do all activities like watching TV, working on computer etc. The only requirements are to take appropriate rest till weakness will gone and to take light diet up till 15 days after recovery.

re: Typhoid Fever, Precautions and treatment

Well since typhoid is a major illnes therefore it may leads to  body weakness. Therefore it is advised to take adequate rest and not to go on work uptill atleast 15 days. I have seen your temperature chart. Its going to be normal. Continue to take medications and spend your time at home. Typhoid may produce intestinal perforation therefore much care is required. Once you will be okey then spend much more time in the office. Is that right?

Sir, so far I have not felt body weakness may be coz I m taking proper diet. My report came on 30th of April and I am taking medicine since then. Is it ok till 14th or should I take more rest. I am taking Leflox tablet, is it fine? And also 99 and below that temperature is fine? Yesterday I had 99 temperature 3 times, what is the normal temperature in this weather???
You didn’t tell me about sitting straight on computer, can I sit on computer daily for 1 hour? What is intenstinal perforation, please explain in layman language. And how long should I rest now and how I be assure that I am alright and can go to office. Cant I walk enough at home, like is it necessary to take bed rest COMPLETELY, not moving even a little bit.

Re: Typhoid Fever

  • The antibiotic you mentioned in your post would be taken for 15 days at least or until you will become symptoms free
  • After 14th May take rest up till you will no longer weakness
  • It is fine to work and sit in front of computer
  • Still you are having fever, although low grade. You will be declared normal once you will not have any spike of fever. By continuing this antibiotic you will be free of fever. If fever persists after 14th May then you would need further check up by the doctor
  • Intestinal perforation is the rupture of intestines. It is a frequent complication of Typhoid fever. The best prevention is to give rest of your gut by taking liquid diet only till the symptoms subside
  • Once you will not have fever and weakness you may join your office
  • You can move as much as you can during bed rest at home
  • Walking is allowed as much as you can

Typhoid Fever

As far as hair falling is concerned it is due to the loss of essential nutriants and vitamins for the hair growth. Take proper diet and start to take mutivitamins since now till three months. If you witness hair fall then dont worry. It will be vanished automatically provided that you have furnished yourself with good nutriants and vitamins. After some times you will no longer feel hot whether or not the weater is hot.
