Introduction:
There are so many queries asked by common people,couples who have difficulty in conceiving here on the forum…I am totally writing this article based on common people queries and to give them information about their reproductive system in simple English…
Infertility/subfertility:
Subfertility is the new term for infertility as world over its decided to use this term as its more sophisticated and the couple do not feel lonely and sad that they cannot produce a baby..
Infertility/subfertility is the inability of the couple to conceive(get pregnant) after 1 year of regular unprotected relations(sex)….. it means couple should and must be living together for 1 year to have regular sex(that means whats the normal desire is) and unprotected means no contraception be practiced
pakistan infertility ratio : its 10:1 that is if 10 couples marry 1 will be infertile and this ratio is decreasing even new sources say its 6:1
Initially definition was upto 2years..then with increasing trend of females of west marrying after 30year of age it changed to 1year as fertility decrease with age
Peak age (when fertility is maximum) of fertility in females is 20-25years and male 28-35 years…
Here is an example: if 100 couples get married on 1st January about 25 of these will conceive by end of 31st april……. Next 25 couple will conceive at end of 31 st august ….
And next 25 couple will conceive by end of 31st December………… but still 25 couples will be such that by end of 1 year they would have not conceived and these 100 couple are those that have no underlying medical problem in conceiving….. and the rest 25 couple are supposed to conceive by end of 2nd year of marriage…………….
The reason of this is…….
During whole 1 month of female menses cycle( 1 cycle is day one of menses bleed this month to day 1 of next month menses bleed) only there is 1 day or 24hours in which conception can take place how?
Fertilization/conception/being preganan:
In females there is vagina(where intercourse is done) above it is mouth of uterus (cervix) then uterus itself and there are tubes attached to uteus on both sides and to it are attached ovaries on both sides(right and left)….
Ovary each month release an egg(called as ovulation)… this egg go into tube… when intercourse is done sperm come via vagina to uterus and to tubes and mix up with the egg in the tube and pregnancy happens…
The things are important to know;
1) egg released lives upto 48hours( 2days ) but it can be fertilized by sperm for only upto 24hours that is within 1day of its release….
2) Sperms deposited in vagina are have to be 20million/ml of semen but only some million reach uterus and some thousand sperm reach tubes of uterus and only 1 sperm mix with egg rest dies…
3) Sperm can live upto 72hours in female body(reported even upto 6days) but they can be able to mix with egg within 48hours or 2days of their deposition in vagina
So the conclusion is egg live upto only 24hour of it release and sperm must come either before egg or after egg but within 24hour of its release from ovary
females with 28day cycle(start from day 1 of menses bleed of this month to day 1 of menses bleed of next month) 90% of these females have their egg released on 14th day of cycle(count from day 1 of menses bleed)…. But the rest 10% will have egg released between day 10 to day 20 of the cycle….
