Husband Sperm Count Nil: What Should Be Done?

A.A

It is my second thread on your forum. After the responses I got to my earlier thread:

http://www.forum.noorclinic.com/0/husband_avoiding_semen_analysis_13606.htm

I got very encourage and finally gotten my husband convinced for a semen/serum test.

The hormone profile:

Testosterone = 4.5 ng/dl              Normal= 4 – 11

FSH=                      5.5 ng/dl              Normal= 0.5-11

But the semen analysis report shows azoospermia. The semen volume was 3ml but the sperm count was Nil.

I need assistance from Doctors and anyone who has similar issues. The Urologist recommended an abdomen/pelvic/KUB ultrasound but its not gotten done yet. Now when the report says a nil sperm count then does he need to get done anymore ultrasounds? We want to take all the reports together to the Urologist.

My husband thinks that if he avoids intercourse for a month or more then might be the sperms production becomes normal. I did not apprehend his idea but my logic does not find it medically correct.

mylilly

Sister Lilly...
The News is not good, But atleast you know what the problem is... so you can plan teh treatment...

You are right that abstaining from sex will not improve the situation, this may help in asthenozospermia(Lack of motality) but not in the case of azoospermia....

Only the doctors can guid you well, but just for your information this disorder is some time very easy to cure, as there may be some blockage in the tube which carry sperms from testicales... so you people shoud go for what ever the doc say including the ultrasound...

Wasy Ulad ALLAH ki dain hai... mery aur mery wife kay sary test theek hain par hum phir he is Namat say mehroom hain aur asy bhe loog hain jin ko Doc nay jawab day deya aur aj un kay haan Babies hain... ALLAH Say khabi na umeed na hoon...

Wish you best of luck...

One more thing....

Sister one more thing....
Absence of sperm in the semen does not mean that he is not producing the sperms... he may be producing the sperms normally.... so it is very important that you go for further investigation to pin point the problem...

Dear mna

Thanks for ur reply.
Alhamdullillah, my husband is now cooperating now and is willing for the treatment. Children are definitely in the hand of Allah S.T.

I am right now concerned that what is the root cause of this condition and praying that the reason be very small and easily curable.

May Allah bless you with kids inshaAllah:)

Ultrasound name

The urologist when saw my husband asked the following to be done:
Semen analysis, serum test and an Abdominal Ultrasound (due to kidney pain).

Now after the semen/ blood report , I read different medical forums and gotten to the point that my husband might need to go under some more ultrasounds. He is saying that the Sonologist will do it himself after seeing the reports so we shud not head back to the urologist so that he can write the names of any more tests/ultrasounds.

But I want to have an idea what initial ultrasounds do the doctors do for azoospermia? I read there can be scrotal to examine obstruction in vas deferns etc. or transrectal ultrasounds to detect Prostate issues. I just want to get mentally ready and do not want The Ultrasound to be a surprise for my husband.

It will be really kind if any doctors reply. We'll be visiting a sonologist in a day so a prompt reply will be looked upon with lots of thanks.
