Abnormal Billirubin

Respected Doctor.
In 2008 I had a detailed medical checkup due to my job requirement. My all reports were normal but Billirubin was 2.7 instead of>1. I manged all necessary tests like HbsAg, Anti HCV, Ultra sound (abdomin, liver) PCR, Elisa etc but every report was normal.
I consulted an assisstant professor of medicine (working as gastroentrologist) and he dignosed that I had "Gilbert Syndrom". He recomended Tab Siliver (Abbott) and Syp Heptocam. After 2 months my Billirubin dropped upto 0.7 and after 3 months it was 0.3.
In mid 2009 I had again same situation with raised Billirubin upto 3.5
Same medicine same results.
In 2011 again same happened with Billirubin 2.9
My questions are:
1. What is Gilbert Syndrom?
2- How can I maintain my Billirubin in normal range i.e.0-1.0?
3- I am vaccinated for Hepatitis B but is there any vaccine available in market for hepatitis C as some of family members are infected by Hepatitis C and are having traetment like Peg. Interferon and Ribavirin.
4. What can be main reason for raised billirubin.?
5. What are does and dont's for it?
Thanks

Gilbert Syndrome:

Gilbert Syndrome (GS) is a relatively common inherited condition that is caused by a deficiency of an enzyme that conjugates the bilirubin. As a result of this deficiency, bilirubin can't be conjugated. Conjugation of bilirubin is necessary for its excretion from the body, therefore the main symptom in Gilbert Syndrome is excess bilirubin which causes juandice, fatigue, some abdominal pain at times, and difficulty metabolising certain medications. The good thing is that symptoms are generally mild, and most people do not require any treatment, unless symptoms are severe. On a even more positive note, people with GS actually even have a lower risk of heart disease.

There would be times when your bilirubin would get more elevated, for example during dehydration, stress, and certain illnesses like common cold. Avoid getting dehydrated and keep your stress under control.

Unfortunately, there is no vaccine for Hep C yet.

By the way, are your parents cousins to each other? Illnesses like Gilbert Syndrome happen more frequently in children whose parents are cousins.
