electricity shortage? or potential blockage ? no doubt current government is MAGNIFYING the electricity issue,
but just realize the behind screen also
suppose u own a flour mill, u have a regular customer client, (public supplier) and he takes 5 thousand flour bags from ur mill every week, and his payment schedule is regular, so that u build a blind trust on his regular payments in 5 years...... after 5 years, he requests u for 20 thousand flour bags IN CREDIT..... relying on his past regular payments, u grant him 20 thousand flour bags on credit........... after that he starts taking huge amounts of flour bags from ur mill in credit, without clearing previous payments...... being messed up with all this u demand ur payment.. but ur trusted client "flies to america for permanent settlement"........................ whats going to happen with ur mill? no one will recover ur payment of 5 lac flourbags, u have no money to sustain "workers salaries" all the workers are signing off from ur mill, u have no money for purchasing wheat, as a consequence ur mill fails, u have to sell the machinery for goverment dues and taxes and all ur credits make ur mill bank corrupt...... ...... people ask u that ur mill has a capacity of producing 20 thousands flour bags per week, but why isnt it running?...... what will u answer ?
just a comparison with above "hypothetical" example, just flash back only 8 years ago.... just recall what was being happening with electricity and power generating companies in pakistan in 2002, when PERVAIZ MUSHARRAF was in his peak swing as CHEIF EXECUTIVE of pakistan...... he was running all the electric companies IN CREDIT and public bills were being engaged in so called "tarakkiyati mansoobay, program 2010, qaumi khazana"
so u can imagine what will be the suffering for power companies?
with this potential of huge crisis for electricity production in pakistan, just after the Musharraf goverment "collapsed" ........ the very first major issue was the "payment demand" from electric companies, which is almost unbearably huge....... and since 2007, only sufferings and sufferings in power, creating even next potential for another crisis of electricity dependent industries....

part-4 (last part) again Hydal Electricity generated by WAPDA varies between two extremities i.e. bewteen minimum of 2414 MW and maximum of 6761 MW depending upon the river flow through the whole year.
Total Power Generation Capacity of Pakistan (including all sources) is 19855 MW and the electricity demand (as of today 20-04-2010) is 14500 MW and PEPCO is merely generating 10000 MW.
So it is obvious that these 15-20 hrs power shutdowns in most parts of the country are not because of the lack of generation capacity but only because of the corrupt & incompetent PPP government. Situation could have been better if they really wanted to deliver but now its the time nation should stop expecting from Za?dari & its puppet Gi?ani for the solutions. They themselves are the problem and it should not be a surprise for PPP govt if voilent anti government protests erupt in major parts of the country. |
