midhat...vivas Midhat how are you nice to see your post ..
How were your papers? I hope that you will pass with flying colours , donot worry.
Why you could not get the bones?.. probably it’s the season that most of the students buy right?
Anyhow use Atlas of anatomy. I had Netter’s Atlas and it’s the standard one. You may rent from your library… keep it infront it has real good nice bones pics like its real and good muscle attachments depiction.
Be Confident:
Be confident in your general attitude ..its like in first year proff as we have come from FSC we think its okey to act nervous… to tell u an absolute truth its is not!!...
The teachers excpect and want us to act mature and just be confident … what you know you will remember but I would discourage from being over-confident..
Stick to Ur answer:
When you reply to a query reply with surety and stick to it like anything… sometimes(mostly not in first two years but surely from 3rd year) some professors check your depth of knowledge by saying Are you sure?? No I think its otherway around? Aren’t you mixing? Like you are telling ulnar nerve course the doctor may say nope its median nerve distribution… so if you are sure just stick to it…
Better Say Sorry than Irrelevant answer:
You donot know an answer fine… say sorry sir… or no I donot know… never make a blunder by making up an answer from your own side… in medicine there are no grey lines… either its black or its white… we are students not researchers(so cant give our own theories)… we must know or we donot know…
You see a doctor if don’t know a particular disease/thing he /she will consult a colleague etc but if he/she knows the wrong answer or treatment he will be just dangerous to the patient…
To Err Is Human….
Its okey to not know a thing or two but its not okey to know wrong…
Dress Decently:
It will not pass or fail you but still it gives an imperrision that you are not dazed…
No hangings with the body like bracelet etc or duppata hanging … tuck it inside overall.. some students they come on viva day as if have just jumped out of the bed believe you me it gives a real bad impression.. just take out ten extra mins take a shower and dress decently..

Anatomy:
Do surface marking good .. it was like our viva started from there so its ur first imperession…and donot hesitate on marking who ever is ur subject… if u get axillary artery marking never forget its course around the axilla and behind…
Bones:
First two questions are: which bone is it? Of which side right aor left ? what is its position inside body..(remember donot place clavicle straight its at 45 degree..hip bone placement is favourite question…)
Hip bone and clavicle are the fore most favourities.. then come scapula and fibula…then radius and ulna… tibia and humerus are not musch asked…. I was asked ribs and sternum… besides hip and clavicle…..
Out of 25 girls I was only one to be asked ribs,neurovascular bundle,sternum,ribs movements(bucket handle etc)……. Want to tell u Nothing Is UnImportant!!.....
Histology… if u have atlas do avail it its spotting just…there would be one major slide and relevant questions…
Embryology: specimen are shown / I mean models and its easy…
Questions: besides ID… Saturday night palsy,carple tunnel syndrome, plantar flexors dorsi flexors… movement at shoulder and knee joint…. Corse of recurrent laryngeal between oesophagus and trachea Lungs lobes etc…hilum structure….
physiology and biochem whole course … they can ask anything…..(cardiac issues and nerve potentials are favourite)
Do a lot of prayers…. Before , during and after exams..
Just pray for me too..please…that…… water pass in first attempt.AMEEN.

thank you waterr FIrstly BEST OF LUCK.you will also ROCK..thank you so much your suggestion were very helpful to me.prof khatm ho gya Thanks to Allah it was very very Difficult..i dn't know why teachers ne mujh se he itna mushkil viva kiun lia bqi sub students k 2mint k viva hota tha mujh se pori history sun lete the shyd mera roll num. start me tha...Ap ki trhan mujh se bhi Ribs he pochen.lungs aur heart bhi poche..Histology was rocking i identified all slides right..surface marking bhi fit hua but written men kuch ger ber hue....Biochem k head ne boht ajeeb viva liya DNA p full viva liya...physio was more Rocking then all..physio to boht Easy he main awien he tent le rahe the And thx to you for it....ap ne meri boht help ki THANK YOU...now waiting for Result pray for me My prayers are alwaz wid you Take Care

water Salam. I want to ask you some thing. MBBS is equivalent to Bachelor degree. That one I know.
Specialization in heart, kidney etc (physician only not surgery). is equivalent to Master degree. Is it right? And what about specialization in any kind of surgery? |

water Thanks for your quick answer. I am really greatful to you.
I do not know about medicine but in some countries in engineering, Master and specialization are two different things. In case of specialization one need to get high skills in some particular engineering field but in case of Master one need to do some scientific research and suppose to find some solution of any scientific problem(not like Phd standard) and then have to submit thesis about that solution. And only after that one can be awarded Master degree.
So I want to ask you same is true in Medicine? Specialist are working in hospitals and get good skills and then pass some exams. Or is it necessary for them to do some scientific work and introduce some thing new in field of medicine and surgery, not Phd standard but at Master level? |

Yes! No its nt Master level, a specialist is a post graduate like Phd. They need to do a thesis and a research, that has to be approvd by CPSP COLLEGE OF PHYSICIAN N SURGEONS, also there is an xam IM INTERMEDIATE MODULE they gve inbetwen hospital 4yr its a papr n and a spotting, Also thy av to Give a Record Of What Diffrnt Cases/unusual They Attndd n Managd In a Log book, also an office record. ITS COMPLEx. also agar ap aisi field k hain jisme hospt nai hota matlb anatmy, physiology tou ap M.PHIL kartey hain n aur b. Aur ap Neurology (surgn nai subjct) mai kar sakte hain. aur agaey tou bohat cmplx hojae ga agar apko medi ka nai pata, matlb daikhain Gastroenterologist hotey hain ab wo pehle medicine mai basic speclzatn kartey hain phr agaey branch out hotey hain. AUR ye master,b.a , ko ap chorain.. Doctorz ke category alag hoti ha agar ap kisi intrnatnl jaga pe kam karain.. muje BSC ke degre 3rdyr Mai sirf aik Englsh ka papr dai kar Mil gai Punjab Uni ke. insan Ashraf ul Makhloqat Ha n Allah ke Cmplx Tareen Takhleeq tou usko parna b asan nai. lol. |

midhat.... dear my papers and viva are over but my result will come in 2months time As u know we are not under UHS... so when a college is its own University they take time... last year final year result came in 2months time... i dont know what's gonna happen this time...
and just remember me in prayers.. i did my best or atleast i tried to do my best... 5months of shear tension and tiring effort now i am having a bit of Leisure sickess
yupp i liked physiology then loved pathology and am having a crush over internal Medicine ;)))).. so may be that goes same for u or what u have in mind about doing specialization in??
you just need to make concepts that's the only key .... i mostly studied like page to page atleast uptil 3rd year and also the theoretical subjects in 4th year..
just be a gyton worm.. only for few things one need is ganong that u will know..
we have tutorials (u must also have) go with ur topics prepared and discuss with the doctor whatever u find difficult..
i studied biochemistry from Lippincott except few things like glucoronic acid pathway and amino acids from harper they are defecient in lippin.
one thing more dear, as it is said Beauty lies in the eyes of beholder..
same is with you, u find me nice cuz u urself are nice and have the ability to preceive some one else fairness and u donot doubt anyone unnecessarily
